There are many challenges for parents of children with special needs, and one that is often unexpected is sensitivity to everyday clothing. There are huge sensory issues that children with Autism, SPD, OCD, PDA commonly encounter with their clothing.  This can be a nightmare, especially for essentials like underwear, school wear and seasonal weather-wear.

On a daily basis your challenges start with trying to get your child washed, dressed in the appropriate clothing and transitioned to school or whatever activity they are scheduled to be attending that day. All this is probably under time pressure as you are likely to also be trying to hold down a job and income that is dependent on you getting to work on time!

Children with Sensory Issues, Autism, SPD, ADHD, OCD, PDA or other SEN issues have so many challenges already that they need to overcome every single day in order to travel to and attend school, focus on their work and overcome anxiety and dysregulation. School uniform is a huge additional barrier to many and causes meltdowns in so many busy homes each morning.

Parents of children with special needs, especially when sensory processing sensitivities, OCD, PDA or Autism are in the mix, often struggle to get a toothbrush anywhere near their child, let alone work on improving gum health or oral hygiene. This can lead to distress, meltdowns and anxiety twice a day, every day, and that’s no fun for anyone.
